India Vs Bangladesh || Asia Cup 2018 || Super 4

Bangladesh team got qualified for the Super 4 in the Asia Cup 2018 and had its first game against India today. It has been quite hot over the past week in Abu Dhabi and its effect has been seen to affect some of the players.

India won the toss and opted to field first. Ravindra Jadeja came in as a replacement for Hardik Pandya who got injured in his previous game. People were expecting it to be a bright contest in the Asia Cup 2018 and most of the seats in the stadium was filled as well for the encounter.

In the first half, just like their previous occasion, Bangladesh team did not have a good opening for their innings. It was Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to strike first for the Indians. Soon after Bhuvi took the first wicket, it was time for another strike bowler of India to come into this contest. Jasprit Bumrah did not waste any time in removing the second wicket as well of the Bangladesh team. A small partnership of 26 runs between Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rehman initiated some belief that they will steady the innings going forward. But you know what, Jadeja came into action and joined along with other 2 bowlers and wasted no time in getting his first wicket of the tournament. He announced his arrival back to the Indian side in a great fashion. It was quite brave of Ravindra Jadeja to pitch the ball on the same area and you should not forget the brilliance of M.S. Dhoni. He was the one who stated to the captain that a fielder needs to be placed at the inner circle. The next delivery Shakib tries to play the same shot and is quite beaten by the slightest variation in pace. Going through the innings, Bangladesh kept losing the wickets at regular interval. At one stage even 150 seemed impossible for them. But thank God, decent innings of Mehedi Hasan and Mashrafe Mortaza, made sure that the team total at least reaches to 173. Pick of the bowlers for India was none other than Ravindra Jadeja who took 4 wickets by just conceding 24 runs in his complete 10 overs. The Bangladesh team set a target for the Indians of 174 runs.

In the second half, Indians batted steadily and made sure that they do not lose any wickets during their initial portion of the innings. Shikar Dhawan played decent innings of 40 runs in his own style and got out after making 40 runs off 47 balls. It included 5 fours and 1 sixer along the innings. By the time Shikar Dhawan got out,  we could already make it certain that they will chase down the target easily. Rohit Sharma continued to play his shots and made sure that India reaches the target conveniently without much worry. Mahendra Singh Dhoni played his part by scoring 33 runs and ultimately winning the match conveniently.

For a brilliant spell, Ravindra Jadeja was awarded man of the match in the first Super-4 match of the Asia Cup 2018
