Windies Tour of India || First Test, Rajkot || Prithvi Shaw || India Vs Windies Day 1

It was quite a beautiful day in Rajkot. Two teams meeting each other for the first test after quite a long time. Prithvi Shaw was handed the debut test cap by the Indian Captain Virat Kohli himself.
After winning the toss in the first test, the Indian captain "Virat Kohli" decided that his team will bat first in this beautiful ground.

For Windies, the day started quite superbly after their bowler Shannon Gabriel picked the first wicket. It was time for the entry for one of the most prominent test batsmen of this generation "Cheteshwar Pujara". He along with the debutant Prithvi Shaw stitched a partnership together taking the scoreboard ticking with overs. Slowly the partnership turned into a 100 run partnership and then a 150 run partnership. The Windies bowlers were not able to understand how to break this excellent partnership. The young lad in his debut was showing a lot of commitment and temperament as well in the Game. The match seemed to be quite similar to the one-day international event as the run rate was well above the normal test arena. While the scoreboard was ticking, very few did notice that Prithvi Shaw was nearing his first international century on his debut. In the 32nd over, Prithvi Shaw reached his maiden ODI century by pushing the delivery for a double.

The entire Indian Crowd was ecstatic as well as the team members. We were able to hear only claps all around. He is the second teenager to make a test century on the debut after the famous Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. The boy is just 18 years old and has entered the international test arena with a bang

When the score crossed the 200 mark, Pujara got out to a beautiful delivery from Sherman Lewis who got his maiden test wicket in this fashion. After playing some brilliant shots after making his debut century, Prithvi Shaw was Caught and Bowled by Devendra Bishoo. Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane continued piling up the score. When the team score was around 337, Jinx lost his concentration and gave away his wicket after scoring a mere 41 runs. As the day 1 ended in this test, India was well ahead with a score of 364 for the loss of 4 wickets which is the highest runs scored on a single day’s play. Rishabh Pant too was looking in a brilliant nick after his fruitful England tour.
