India ended the day on a high note by picking up 6 wickets of the Windies players. Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers amongst all of them picking 4 wickets in the lot.
Roston Chase and Keemo Paul continued their partnership just where they had left on day 2. Just when people thought that Windies will form some respite to reduce the follow on a bit more, Keemo Paul got out to Umesh Yadav. Keemo Paul did indeed score 47 runs while staying at the crease. Soon, Roston Chase too followed to the Pavillion as he got bowled out from the Ashwin's delivery. Wickets fell one after the other and the team of Windies collapsed for a mere score of 181 runs in their first innings.
The Windies team were made to play again as the follow-on lead was way too high. The second innings did not start the way that the team had expected. Ashwin started troubling the batsman as he started bowling in the second innings. Kraigg Brathwaite got out to a simple off-spin delivery from Ashwin, providing him with his fifth wicket in the test match. Shai Hope and Kieran Powell tried their best to form some partnership between them and take the team score ticking. During their partnership, we were able to see some of the finest shots that one would like to watch during a test match. Just when people were thinking that a fight will be there from the Windies team, Shai Hope got LBW to a beautiful delivery from Kuldeep Yadav. Soon, just like the first innings, the Windies team started losing their wickets one after the other. Kieran Powell was the only man standing at the other side safeguarding his wicket and playing some beautiful shots in the period. He scored 83 runs before losing his wicket to Kuldeep Yadav.
Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for his five wicket haul in the second innings. The Windies team got bowled out for a mere score of 196 runs gifting India to win the test match by an innings and 272 runs.
Prithvi Shaw was adjudged the Player of the match for his brilliant century in the first innings.
