G. 1 red chili split into 2
H. 15-20 curry leaves
I. 2 tablespoon of sambar powder
J. Pinch of turmeric powder
K. Pressure cooked Toor dal

Method to make tasty sambar at home within half an hour:

Take a Kadai and heat 2 teaspoons of oil. when the oil is hot, add mustard and fenugreek seeds to it. Once the mustard seeds start fluttering add one red chili cut into two, then the curry leaves and asafoetida for taste. now add the veggies, and stir well.

Allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes. then add turmeric powder and the tamarind extract along with one glass of water.

Add the sambar powder and salt.

Now allow it to cook for 10 minutes. Once the cut veggies, as well as the tamarind mixture, blend properly, it is time to add cooked Toor dal nicely mashed to the boiling sambar. Allow it to boil for another 5 minutes and tada your sambar is ready. Serve it hot with Idli, Dosa, Vada, rice, Upuma or Pongal.
